Solo

I have been trying for ages t get a picture of this guy - he sings the lead solo in the dawn chorus in my garden -

I finally caught him through a window with the zoom.

And then also spotted the sort of bird that, if you are superstitious, you don't want to see solo -

Just in case you don't recognise them they are a male blackbird and a magpie.

Comments

One for sorrow... Thankfully there is always more than one magpie.
Blackbirds are such handsome birds.
Usually we do see the pair of magpies - but on this occasion number 2 was off doing his or her own thing. Probably picking moss off a neighbour's roof as they often do it on ours.

I think this is a young blackbird who has taken over the territory - he doesn't seem as belligerent as the one who spent all last summer in the garden.
Love those shots! Our feeder has been invaded by enormous red-winged blackbirds.
Our blackbirds are quite small - but the jackdaws come often, as do the occasional hooded crow - and they are pretty big.
I won't tell Jiffy about the magpie ... his pet hate!1 And, that is one animal you don't want to see solo, isn't it (One for sorrow, Two for joy ...)

Lovely pictures though
