Honor

This is a picture of the District of Columbia War Memorial in Washington, DC. It was dedicated in 1931 to honor the residents of DC who fought during World War I (or the Great War as it is called on the memorial). It is located on the National Mall between the Korean War Veterans Memorial and the National World War II Memorial.

That's beautiful. I love how you've caught it with the light on the inside.
Thank you!
Oh my goodness I LOVE the lighting in this pic! Beautiful <3
Thanks!
I need to get back to DC - was there in 1989, but don't remember seeing this - a beautiful building.
Most people don't even know it exists. It's really easy to miss with all the focus on the national monuments and memorials right there.
Very nice shot.

It's rather sad that people thought World War I was the final world war.
Thanks.

Also sad, there is no national memorial for the US soldiers who fought in WWI.
There is a national museum in Kansas City. It's exceptionally nice. It's an absolutely beautiful complex. The Liberty Memorial was originally built to commemorate the Kansans who served in WWI, but it serves the nation now.

I did not realize that Liberty Memorial was repurposed (redefined, reassigned? I'm not sure of the best word.) to be a national memorial. Thanks for the information.
Beautiful shot, and a beautiful memorial.
Thank you
That is a really beautiful picture - somehow you manage to make it both beautifully light and almost unearthly, but also solid and solemn.
Thank you. I think I probably circled it 3 or 4 times before I decided on where to take the picture.
