Taking liberties with this one as I'm a bit short of human subjects this week. I'm pretty sure this well-upholstered lady is a mother, Amphitrite to be precise. Since she's at the top of a purpose-built civil service office block, you may be wondering why she's there. I can tell you only that it's an office block designed specially for the Royal Navy, and doubtless they wanted a bit of female company while they worked.
If you'd like to see what this 'office block' (Somerset House, built in the 18th century) looks like, and put Amphitrite in context, I've put a couple of wider shots under the cut. Which also explains why this isn't a full-frontal shot - the water feature was in the way so I had to take the picture at an angle. ( Collapse )
