South America

My first thought was that I have quite a few interesting pics of Argentina - what a pity my daughter took them...

Then it occurred to me that I have some pics from a recent trip to our local wildlife park - this rather smiley guy is a guanaco and so a South American!

South America

Using the new interface. We'll see how it goes. Not ever going to try to catch up on the ones I missed. If I'd had something for them, I'm sure I would have found time to do a quick post, so... Anyway, picking up with this week's prompt - here is a picture of my son-in-law who was born in Columbia and raised in Venezuela - or vice-versa, I don't remember which. Anyway, definitely from South America. :)

This is the Secession building in Vienna. Not only a work of art in itself, it is manifesto for freedom of artistic expression, a rebellion against the stifling expectations of formal Academic painting which led in so many European capitals in the late 19th century. Over the entrance, it reads:

Der Zeit Ihre Kunst
Der Kunst, Ihre Freiheit

(To each age, its art
To art, its freedom)

You can see this under the cut, together with some more detail of the decoration and its celebration of painting, architecture and sculpture.
