Probably the only decent sports pic I've taken, and likely a meaningless pic to anyone outside the US or who aren't baseball fans....

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter, who was pitching with our local Springfield Cardinals team on an injury rehab assignment. Unfortunately, the rehab didn't work and he had to retire, but it was a thrill to see such a pitcher I'd admired and been a fan of for years up close.

From our holiday in France a few years ago, taken on a trip to the butterfly farm (which was next door to the aquarium, so we did both!).

Week 07 - Insects 01

It was very hot and humid inside, but so pretty, with hundreds of butterflies fluttering around, and lots of exotic plants as well.

When we entered the ballot for tickets for the London 2012 Olympics we didn't get any of our choices, so when we got a second chance to try for tickets I was determined to get to the Olympic Park whatever sport it might be we ended up watching. In the end we saw two of the group stages of Womens' Hockey - no British interest, but great fun all the same. And the whole experience was a complete never-to-be-forgotten day for us all.

Sailing is a sport I've always wanted to learn, but never got around to.

But I love sails and sailing ships so much I used it for one of the special marks of a cloth Pachisi board I'm working at since ages.

Mainly I enjoy my sport from the comfort of my own settee.

But I do leave it occasionally.

This was when I attended the swimming events at the Commonwealth Youth Games-

I love the swimming Manx Cat in the background - he turned up participating in all the sports, being the mascot.

I took this picture in our local park - boys will play football even when they can hardly see each other, let alone the goals!

Football in Nobles Park - late morning in January.
