A member of the cereus family (which are all night-blooming cacti), I believe, but I can't recall the exact genus. These blooms are roughly the size of a salad plate!

Beautiful! And I'm glad you said how big they are, because I wouldn't have had any idea otherwise.
Wow!

We once had a rock garden with cacti on our corner until a girl fell off her bicycle into it. We put on our leather gloves and removed them all, being thankful that the girl didn't get but just a few stickers.
All the cereus plants have amazing blossoms -- we have one in our yard that has smaller blooms, but they're no less lovely (and fragrant!).

Yeah, I've had cactus stickers. NOT fun at all!
