This is a shofar, the ram's horn blown during the Jewish High Holy Days to usher in the New Year.

(For fans of Supernatural, yes, it's the same kind of thing they used to off Osiris last week.) No one in our family knows how to blow it, but I brought it to church last month when we talked about the Jewish holidays, and a ten-year-old girl -- one of my former Sunday school students -- was able to get it to make noise.

Here's another picture of the shofar inside the cabinet where it lives, on top of our Seder plate, in front of two Hanukkah menorahs, and next to an antique perfume bottle that belonged to my great-grandmother and a cow creamer that we never use, but that I kind of love.
