When I saw this I thought that I was probably in totally the wrong part of the world for the real Doldrums. Then I had a brainwave. I set off to a moth-balled fish farm about 15 miles away thinking that that would be a double hit on a calm day. But the winds started up on the way and as I got there and parked a really heavy hailstorm arrived and there was no visibility. I suppose the situation could have counted as Doldrums, but how to photograph it?

So, instead, one from April. This was taken from the PS Waverley, late afternoon on the 28th, heading away from Gairloch and back down to Kyle. There was little movement in the water and what there was was due to the movement of the boat.
