Doldrums

The doldrums; an area of windless sea where sailing vessels could be becalmed for days and weeks.

Colloquially; feeling stuck in a project, unable to proceed.

Yes, well - living on an island it should be fairly easy to take a picture of a windless sea and go with something like the original definition. Yes? No. I have, rather, been in the doldrums (second meaning) as the weather has made it impossible for me to proceed.

So - firstly a picture from earlier this year which I think does illustrate what the sea is like in the doldrums;

Ramsey bay

That was one of those March days we had stolen from summer.

This is what our sea has been like for days... good weather to not be on the boat.

Urgh.

I mean, the spring one is beautiful, and so is the current state of the sea, in a very different way.

But bad sailors will only look and say urgh... (you get my special 'intestines all over the place' icon to celebrate).
Even a bad sailor would have been able to cope in the first one - but today was definitely not a good day to be on the boat!
Wow - quite a difference!
The sea is endlessly fascinating - well it is to me, anyway.
Funnily enough I know exactly what you mean!
I bet it looks much the same with you right now. A good day to stay on land!
Amazing to think that's the same sea in both pictures.
It is, isn't it?
That lost photo is so dynamic!
It's not all that difficult to capture the concept of movement with a sea like that, to be honest!
