Yellow

Well, it's still winter, but in the spring yellow is a color that fills the desert, and I have tons of great shots from our botanical gardens -- so flowers it is (and I was pleased with this one, yellow columbine with visitor):

Beautiful. And thank heavens you didn't say you just went outside and took that. I might have died of jealousy.
Not until February. (Although I think I took this in April!)

Although today was overcast and chilly, it's been ridiculously warm for January, rarely below 68 and sunny.
Oooh, pretty! Doesn't look desert-y at all. :)
Well, the columbine doesn't grow down here EXCEPT in the botanical gardens; it's more of a mountain flower. Normally you'd have to drive up to Payson at least to see one in the wild!

I was looking for a picture I KNOW I took of a Palo Verde tree in bloom -- beautiful yellow! -- but I couldn't find it!
It took me a while to see the "visitor!" What a contrast to the columbine. I love seeing them in the wild, but here also they grow wild in the mountains and not down in the lowlands.

And now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen a yellow one--thank you!
I've only seen them in the wild up around Payson, and I think those were white ones; the yellow ones at the Arizona Desert Botanical Gardens were the first yellows I'd seen, too!

Lovely shade--nearly chartreuse. How fortuitous to have the butterfly in your shot, too.
