Bitter

Another tough one! Then I thought about what I pass in my own foyer every day:

My complete collection of Wheaton bitters bottle reproductions. I have only a few of the originals (very expensive!), but the repros are now old enough they've gained a collectibility of their own. My first one was unearthed in my parents' backyard when Dad was planting when we first moved in there, around 1973. Since then, I've managed to get them all.

Aren't they pretty? I was thinking at first that they looked odd for beer bottles, but then thought is is bitters as in angostura bitters?
The originals would date to between 1840 and 1890 or so; they were for medical "bitters," the more traditional bitters (the kind for mixing cocktails), or plain ol' whiskey. Here's some info about the real bitters bottles (the ones I can't afford).
They're so pretty!
I love colored glass. I have the blue corn bottle! I used it as a vase for the dandelions my daughter used to present me with when she was little. The yellow and blue looked so pretty together even though the dandelion isn't much good as a cut flower.

Your collection is beautiful.
