Insects

Wasps

We have a truce; I am leaving them alone and they are leaving me alone...fingers crossed...

Yipes. I'd have someone come and get rid of them. Those aren't honey bees.
No, they are paper wasps. They have not been aggressive towards me, because I am not disturbing them (and do not plan to.) They are beneficial to plants, because they eat certain destructive worms and caterpillars and they also spread pollen. The wasps will be gone once the weather gets cold, so I will remove (read: have my husband remove) the abandoned nest then.
Well, that's cool then. :)

We have wasps around here that are evil and aggresive.
That's much like the pact I have with the black widows on the front porch and the suspected recluse in the shed -- as long as they stay in their corners and eat insects, I'm okay with them--but if they encroach on the doors or get near the pets, they're squished.
I love honeybees and welcome all to the yard. I'm not as inviting to wasps, however. They manage to make a nest most often by the back door and are a menace. They get removed. We have a current nest on the fireplace, and that harms no one. We'll dispose of that nest when winter comes.
