science

Struggled with this one. The best I could do is something botanical (Biology being my main science interest) - These are my little forest of Japanese maples. All descendants of the same original tree, and yet each one is its own distinct color at this time of the year. (although, full disclosure, this photo was probably taken last year - they haven't actually turned color yet this year). Anyway, a scientific explanation would be that the lack of chlorophyll in the late fall allows the underlying pigments to show. All we need to know is "tree pretty". :)

Exquisitely beautiful.
Those colours are so spectacular - and the genetics would be fascinating.
and the genetics would be fascinating. They would be. I can't decide if I'm curious enough to do the work on plant genetics. No excuse not to now that I'm retired, I guess. :)
