Entrance (/Gateway)

More of an entrance, I think, and one which has clearly come down in the world. Such an ugly door for such a beautiful doorway!

Plus a couple of bonus mini entrances for you to enjoy! (LJ may be on a go slow, no reason you shouldn't have something pretty to look at while you wait.) All from the Loire valley, which is good on doorways.

Oh yes - a better entranceway than the door it contains, for sure! I like that last one a lot.
Thanks! Wish I'd been able to get some contextual height on the little door - it's maybe 4 ft high, yet that's a proper doorstep so it must always have been for short people. Not a case of the street level rising. So... hobbits?
Clearly...
Yup; that door looks like the cheap metal "fire safe" thing you get at Home Depot. Poor doorway!

I do love the contrast!
Me too! It's a reminder that real people live in these renaissance houses, and they maybe don't have the cash or the taste to treat them as we might dream of doing. Which is what happens with a living city, of course.
They're all wonderful, but - perhaps not surprisingly - my favorite is the one with the horse.

Aww...poor doorway, I'm sure it once housed such an elegant door.

I love all the small pics too, the first and last of them being my favourites.

*sigh* I really need a new keyboard...one that actually acknowledges the keys that have been pressed.
