Branch

This is more the final end for a brave little branch -- you see, not long after we moved into this neighborhood, back in 1988, this tree was a great and mighty giant, but someone who lived in the house decided they didn't want it, and had it cut down. There was nothing but a stump left.

But they left the stump, and a few years later, one brave little branch came up in the middle of that "dead" stump.

And from that branch, today:

It's the only time I ever saw a tree come back from a stump... and it all started with a little branch.

What a neat story. And while I know the prompt was "branch," it's the trunk I find particularly fascinating.
It is very neat looking; the odd-looking bottom is of course the original stump, as the new trunk grew out from the tiny branch in the middle.
Amazing!
What a cool story! And what a neat tree; it's so striking and sort of twisted. Neat!
How wonderful! Thanks for sharing this.
I've seen trees come back from stumps before. It is always encouraging to see Nature fight back!
Well, I live in Arizona. Nature is very unforgiving here; usually a stump means dead! Maybe the Australian tree just wanted to show us what's what! :)

What a terrific tree! It's unusual for trees here to "regrow" like that--they often sprout but they don't usually survive more than a year or two.
It is really beautiful, too. I love the pattern and shape of the trunk.
Go the tough little Melaleuca!
