Old

Taking up my own challenge quickly -

Lonan old church 022

That is a Celtic cross still standing where it was put when it was carved something like 1,400 years ago. Although I guess it stood up straight back then.

It is in the church yard of Lonan Old Church -

Lonan old church 008

Which was built in the twelfth century.

(There are a few more pictures on my Flickr Account, if you are interested.)

Ooooh, "old" indeed! How cool.
Thank you!
Very old!

Hmm, by comparison, I'm afraid any landmarks from around my place won't fit the category!
It's a matter of degree - a three year old blowing out candles might seem quite old to her parents!

And a five day old slice of bread would be old, as bread goes...
What a beautiful example of old! ♥ Do you mean/ know that it also never was/needed to be re-erected? Visiting megalithic sites we often heard that part of the stones had been re-erected, so I'm wondering.
Celtic crosses are among my favourites, and this one is particularly beautiful.
Do you mean/ know that it also never was/needed to be re-erected?

Most of our crosses are no longer out in the open, but have been brought into the churches, or had a shelter erected for them in the churchyards - but all the information about Old Lonan says that this cross is still standing in what is believed to be its original position in the churchyard of the original keeil.
