Oh dear...

oh dear...

This is a pub near to me that has been there for years (my brother drank there when he was 18 and he is 50 now) but which closed down earlier this year. It was boarded up for ages, and then there were signs of activity - I thought it had been bought by another brewery. But no... it was Tesco's.

It's so sad to see all our traditional pubs disappearing.

Mum & Dad's local cottage hospital was taken over by Sainsbury's ... at least with that it isn't a special building ... with happy memories.

Sad.
It's sad to see indie companies disappear into corporations.
Better Tescos than a totally derelict site, I suppose - but better again if it had remained a proper pub!
The thing is, there is an Aldi supermarket right across the road, a newsagent on the other side. If you go down the road about half a mile there is another Tesco express... seems pointless to me. I don't know what you could put there, but supermarket isn't high up my list!
Oh dear indeed - and such a beautiful building!
That really is an 'oh dear' moment. :(
Hate seeing history constantly paved over and supplanted by box stores.
I don't think they plan to knock it down - just rip out the inside and replace it with chiller cabinets...:(
It is a darned shame that such a lovely building can't continue trading in the business it was intended for. Somehow Tescos hasn't got quite the right ambience.
