Old and New

Just up the block from us, on our daily walks to the park, there has been an empty bank building. It's been so long since it's been a bank I couldn't tell you which one it was; I think it was several different banks, then it was an office, and then it sat there empty for at least a decade, maybe two.

When I heard there was a Starbucks moving in, I thought they'd tear down the old building and put in a new one -- but instead, to my delight, they restored the OLD building to accommodate something NEW! (Including keeping the two magnificent old magnolia trees growing in what will now be the patio areas.)

That building should make a really nice coffee shop - great parking and I love the trees on the patio area.

I think it will be. We're not coffee shop people (since neither of us drink coffee!) but we feel we have to stop by and check it out when it opens.

I love the work they did on the landscaping -- before it was just a green grass lawn in the front, with a few palm trees.
I'm glad they are keeping it - it is an interesting looking building.
Very nice use of the prompt... and kudos to Starbucks for using what's already there instead of tearing down what was a perfectly useable building.

I don't care for Starbucks coffee, but I do like their chai latte. :)
That's what I usually get when I go there! (I'm not a coffee drinker...)
Clever combination of the prompts! And really, very economical of Starbuck's to reuse something old for their something new.
What a great answer to both prompts. How nice they're keeping the building, and particularly those trees!
It's nice to see a building being repurposed.
