Square

This is the Museum Square in Amsterdam - traditional location for large demonstrations (such as in the 1980s many of the anti-nuclear ones). On this occasion (in 2004) the issue was pensions, and about 300.000 people turned up.

Great prompt answer. How fascinating to have such a location tradition.
It's mainly a practical tradition - and even though Amsterdam's the capital, with The Hague being the centre of government, there's a similar location there
A most historic place indeed.
Indeed - and normally, it's in use as a park and festival location as well.
What a great crowd has gathered. I love the pic.

Thanks.

It was a good demo (even if slightly pointless in the long run).
What a fascinating picture - both the colours and the subject.
Thanks - we were lucky with the weather:)
Great big sqaure it seems. :)
Very much so...
I would imagine the lawn in that square takes quite a beating sometimes!
It does, especially if it's raining; but nothing helps people to bond over the good cause like standing ankledeep in mud...
