Buttons and Bows

So, buttons - I've got 'em. May have some bows later on in the week. Too lazy to get them out until I need to. :)
Three containers of buttons here - two inherited from an elderly cousin who had been accumulating them for a long time. I have lots of other cool, antique sewing stuff from her too. But these are buttons. One tin and one cardboard box that I think I put them in so I could use their tin for something else. And one basket of buttons that are more current. Mostly those extras you get sometimes with new clothes.

I love old buttons! My grandmother used to have a big big jar of them that I adored pouring out and playing with.
Yes, I can remember playing with jars of buttons when I was a child. Life was simpler then...
I have a large container of old buttons that I inherited from my mother. I wish I knew where to find them, as they were my first response to the prompt. Hopefully I will find something suitable. It is always interesting to through other people's collections of useful items, don't you think?
It is. One of the fun things about this community. :)
Oh lovely! I especially like the walnut whip ones in the top picture.

(Do you have walnut whips in the USA? Or is that a meaningless description to you?)
I've no idea what they are called. LOL Those came from Pearl's, I'm pretty sure, so who knows how old they are or where they came from originally. May have come over from Ireland with her mother's family, or from the UK with her father's. I think they may have come off a coat, now that I think of it. Anyway, never heard them referred to by name.

They look like coat buttons. I meant they looked like a walnut whip...

Although that is a very neat looking walnut whip!
Ah, yes, that is something new to me. I thought you meant wooden buttons like that were called "walnut whips". LOL
That looks like a nice collection of buttons:-)
:-) It is. A shame I have nothing to use them with! (or on)
Buttons are so handy, and you have a nice selection there.

Thank you. Yes, it is hard to have too many buttons. You never know where or when you may need one of a certain type or size. :)
What a lovely collection! As a kid I loved to browse the collections of my granny and great-granny, they had kept so many very special buttons, and one could invent such awesome games with them.
