Turn of he years...

It's happening again each year, the turn of the year as well as the fireworks going with it, but I have yet to get tired of it. ;o)

I was taking my big camera out for night shots for the first time, but didn't really have a clue what to do with it, and only had a monopod as well. Considering this, I'm really pleased how this shot came out.

Beautiful!
Thanks!
Lovely shot! Fireworks can certainly be challenging to photograph.
Indeed! It was fascinating to hear how long it took the camera each time to "finish the shot" (how the heck is this called in English?).
"Finish the shot" works for me. Or "for the shutter to close", maybe?
Yes, that's it! Closing the shutter, or "for the shutter to close", thanks! :o)
That's a great shot. And a great idea for this prompt!
Thanks! I wanted something about the New Year's Eve, but that was the only thing that was really special this year.
I love this! It looks kind of like a big, scary, open-beaked bird coming to get the viewer. Or maybe that's just me.
Yes, of course, I can totally see that! I also managed to shoot Loch Ness's Nessie made from light, and some other very interesting creatures. *g*
Ooooh, I'd love to see those.
Sadly, the Nessie only looked good on the small screen of my SLR; in "real size" it was just light. So this bird remains the only decent shot out of the lot!
Clever use of prompt!
Thanks!
Oh, pretty! I think I need to get back into the game - LOL.

Oh yes, please, do! :o)
I don't blame you at all for being pleased. It's a great photo! I do think fireworks are so very hard to capture but you've managed it very well!
Thanks! :o)
Very good shot. (And I can totally see the "bird")
Thanks! I can't unsee it now. ;o)
