Stand

A lot of people come and stand in our church grounds to watch the motorcycle racing of the TT. Although some of them prefer a chair...

It's not the best of pictures as I took it with my phone a couple of evenings ago, during a practice session.

What a long tradition for a race. Do folks come from all over the world to compete?
Yes - and to spectate - during practice week at church (we open up and sell teas, coffee, cake, sandwiches and so on) we have had Americans, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders as well as Spaniards, Greeks, Austrians, Germans, French, Italians, Swedes, and Poles....

We even haveMulti-lingual rad signs. It is surprising how many Manx children understand 'Links Fahren' and 'Eingang Verbotten'!
Wow! That race is really a big deal, isn't it? Cool.
I'll swear the island sinks about five foot under the weight of bikes and bikers!
Cool:-)
It is - and good fun providing them all with teas, coffees, and vast amount of cake!
I hope they have comfortable shoes!
Many of them are in their bike boots!
A very nice way to stand, of course! :o) I first also thought you meant the whatever-it-is-with-the-red-awning? in the background, at this could well be a "Stand" in German, though I don't know the English term.
I hadn't thought of it - but that shiny red of the garage in the background could be considered a type of stand in English, too.
