Unexpected

Some unexpected visitors at the bird feeder:

(Although, to be honest, they are spreading -- there are wild pockets of these peach-faced lovebirds all over Phoenix now, apparently sprung from an escaped pair in Mesa back in the 80's!)

interesting that they're wild!!!
We started seeing them on the east edge of our park about a year or so ago, and looked them up on the Internet -- nifty, fascinating stuff! Phoenix is close enough to their native (African) habitat that they just turned out to be successful here!
Oh my goodness! That would certainly get my attention.
We started seeing them at the east edge of the park about a year ago, and had to read up on them. This year they're all over the park and spreading out to neighborhoods. I was absolutely delighted to see them appear on my yard feeder (although they are rare visitors!).

Aren't they gorgeous!
Those are lovely little birds. I got all excited today because I saw a male cardinal on my porch railing. Sadly, I didn't have a way to photograph him before he flew.
