chamekke gave us a picture of a George V post box, and I commented that I had a very similar picture on file. So here is my version - I see your George V and I raise you a Queen Victoria :P

365 week 48 Thursday

And I also had this on file - a post box on a post!!

stamp 2

I think that is more recent than chamekke's - I think it is George VI.

Love love love your Queen Victoria postbox! It's adorable - and a totally different vibe from the later George versions - a little more angular perhaps? The gilt and smart red vs. the scraped area at the bottom makes it looks like it came through the wars... which, in a way, it did.

And you made a post about a postbox on a post (pic 2). I think you just won the Interwebz! The jaunty angle of the post gives it a special je-ne-sais-quoi, too :-D
I just liked the idea of people from the tiny hamlet it is in having posted their letters in it for over a century - and the idea that, although a post man comes by every day to empty it, it was so remote no-one from the post office seems to have thought of repainting it for a very long time!

And thank you - as the new owner of the Interwebz I will magnanimously allow you all to continue using it... :)
PS - I see a fellow Pirates fan; I have icon love now!
Thank you!

I do love a queen with ninja skillz ;-)
I'm enjoying all the posts of posts!
They are really interesting, aren't they!
Hee, post on a post. Lovely. And I do like that it is a slightly drunk post box.
Thank you Maz. Yes - it was difficult not to line the camera up so the post was the vertical, I remember - which would have made the houses in the back ground look very cock-eyed!

LOL - I said at the time, my idea had been stolen, and like you, I was going to find a VR one!

Well done
Go for it anyway - they all look a bit different, and make for nice photos.
:D And now I'm waiting for the fic happening between those two.. I mean, there must be something, don't you think? *g*
Oh yes! You can imagine letters going back and forth - like the Éomer/Lothiriel ones :)
