A couple of months ago I went fabric scouting for my sister. I took a lot of photos to send her, but these two are the most colourful.

Great pics, and what a variety to choose from! It's been ages that I've seen anything similar, we don't have any stores in the vicinity any more that sell fabric. I wonder what the colourfully-chequered kinds are used for, do you happen to know?

Thank you.
We don't have fabric shops in the city, any more. Just small sections in department stores that don't have room for much of a selection. This place is a wonderland of a fabric warehouse shop on an industrial estate, out of town.
The top picture is of bolts of cotton, but the second one is a canvas-like fabric, suitable for making a deckchair, or a garden parasol.
That brightened up my morning. I love rich colors.
Oh, so do I. I really like your icon.
I love the subtle patterns on the cottons in the first picture. Really beautiful throughout each color.

I do too. I considered buying half a yard of each, to make a patchwork quilt, but thankfully I came to my senses and realised I would never get to it - too many other projects to complete first. I really like your icon, too.
I like the top one especially. I think because the bottom one looks like a selection for making trousers for chefs! I have even seen them in the harlequin ones in a picture of some hotel kitchen; I guess it ensures they don't wear them outside the kitchen though.
*shudders at the image of trousers made of any of those*

I like the top ones, too. I was really tempted by them, but I have *so* much cloth just waiting for a project, already... thankfully I managed to resist. *g*
