Surprise! I'm not dead, just a slacker. But this one was too easy given that they just stopped blooming a week or so ago and I took pictures while they were. Lacks imagination, but fits the prompt.
LOL Take your pick: August lillies, surprise lillies, resurrection lillies, naked ladies, magic lillies... or, more correctly - (Lycoris squamigera) They are in the amaryllis family. The hefty foliage comes up in spring with the daffodils, then it disappears and you forget about them until late July or August when one lonely stem shoots up and has a clump of pretty flowers on it. No leaves, just a tall stem and flowers.
