Up and Down

This is Crellin's Hill. It is a 15% hill, so steep you need a handrail. Fortunately this morning I was coming down it, not going up!

The handrail is a nice touch. There is a street (probably more than one, but the one intersects the main through road so you can't miss it) in the little railroad town across the river from here that I swear goes straight up. All the cars park on one side, facing down with the wheels turned to the curb (or a big wall - lol). I presume there must be another way to get up there that isn't quite as exciting to navigate. Pedestrians are pretty much on their own, though. Perhaps they crawl.:)
Nobody parks on Crellin's Hill - it is quite narrow, but if they did they would have to toe in to the curb and leave it in reverse!

Pedestrians on this one not only have a handrail but just above the rubbish bin there is also a seat. A much needed seat if you ever go up this way.
*g* I think I'd end up hauling myself up, hand over hand on the handrail. But fun to cycle down (as long as there isn't a busy cross-street at the bottom).
Sadly there is a halt sign onto a fairly busy road at the bottom - although back when I was a child in the 60s it was probably a regular game to do that as there was so much less traffic.
It's rather like walking the streets in San Francisco, California! I bet you get good exercise walking up and down this one!

When I use it I plan my journey so that I get off the bus at the top - and go home by a bus at sea level!
LOL, that fellow Crellin inspired a lot of cardiovascular exercise!
He did! Although I tend to walk down it a lot more than up it!
Ugh, definitely better down than up! Great choice. :)
Thank you - yes, down is a much better option than up!
