Mail

I like interesting places to post mail -

365 week 48 Thursday

But recently I have been mostly using this one - inside our local hospital.

postbox

Can you see what it has lost?

So nice and shiny! I see that the V.R. is missing.
The VR on the top one means it was made during the reign of Queen Victoria - Victoria Regina.

The lower one is more modern - made since the Isle of Man Post became separate from the Royal Mail and so doesn't have the initials of the reigning monarch - but someone has carefully peeled the 'I' from the 'Isle of Man' below the mail slot for some reason!
The second one is plastic, isn't it? There is one on Northumberland Street, just inside WH Smiths (which now houses a post office) and it looks so shiny, pretending to be cast iron. *g*
Yes - they seem to have decided to use plastic for indoor ones - it definitely makes them shiny!
It's awesome that you have so interesting mailboxes, and can still use the old ones.... I would love to see a bit more variety, but all we have are these and sometimes these bigger ones I like better, design-wise.
I rather like your bright yellow ones - but it is a shame you only have modern ones and no old ones for a bit of character!
Well, typical German conformity... ;o)
