Feet - Coot Feet

One of my favorite pictures of feet, which I posted to Wikipeda a few years ago - Coot feet are weird...



Also some nice reflections. Taken in the Paddington Canal Basin in 2012.

Wow! Amazing.
I'd never really looked closely at coots until I took this picture and realised how strange they are - an intermediate stage between normal bird feet and webbed feet.
Fascinating feet. And the reflections also look a bit like coot feet!
They're bizarre. They're not ducks, incidentally, they're rails, which are more often ground dwelling land birds, which is probably part of the reason their feet are like that. I got lucky with the water and weather for the photo.
I have seen coots often, but never seen their feet. That's fascinating.
It's odd how much we just don't see most of the time. Coots are weird bad-tempered little sods - I've seen one drive off a swan that was coming too close to its nest - and the feet are just part of the package.
