I also finally found a photo of bread!

Two different Brooklyn specials:

the ubiquitous deli sandwich of ham and cheese on a roll

and an Everything Bagel (with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, onion flakes, garlic flakes, pretzel salt, and pepper--best bagel ever).

I cannot believe how long it took me to find bread and jam in my collection of photos.

That bagel looks good, too.
Those bagels are the best! There is a really good bagel store a block from our house that makes excellent ones.
I haven't had a bagel in *far* too long. They're going right on my shopping list.
That bagel above was the single item I have missed the most on a low-carb diet and the first thing I eat when I am cheating!

The everything bagel looks really yummy!
Thanks! The everything bagel is one of my favorite Brooklyn treats.
Good choices! That roll looks to me like a sweet roll from the structure of the dough, but that's no surprise: most kinds of bread of the same name seem to taste and look different in different countries!
What is pretzel salt?
Thanks!

It's called a New York sandwich roll and is not at all sweet. The most simple bread imaginable--flour, water, olive oil, yeast, baked six or eight together in a round pan and broken into individual rolls when they cool.

Pretzel salt is coarse-grained, sea salt.
