Architectural Detail

We're all used to seeing the temples of Egypt as pale stone but they were originally brightly coloured. I took the shot below when on holiday there. The paintwork had been protected because it was on the underside of a door frame. Yes. That is the original paint.

I thought it had been repainted to show what it would have been like originally but the guide assured me it was not.

I think I was the only one in our tour group who spotted it.
There's a very Escher feel to those little panels, somehow. I'd love to see the details of one.
Sadly, I borrowed a friend's camera to take on that holiday so I couldn't take advantage of any bells and whistles it may have had.
