sprinkler summer

Here is my "hot!" (Still looking for sand.)

What is a New York City hot summer without the ubiquitous fire hydrant? (The city now has installed sprinkler heads for use on day's like today--it was a losing battle against people prying them open.)

LOL, in Galadriel's words, the City fought the long defeat... and the kids will enjoy the sprinkles.
I know! I think it is hilarious and sensible that they finally found a reasonable solution.
I have always thought that that looks such fun - and sort of epitomised New York to me when I was younger.
Me too! My parents in small-town America used to squirt my siblings and the neighborhood kids with the garden hose. I love the kids in the photo above who brought their beach toys! Ha!
Like Wombat said, the kids and the fire hydrant are one of those images that epitomises New York. That is a lovely informal shot.
I can think of little that illustrates hot or summer better! :o)
