The funny thing is that this sign is literally at the end of my road, yet I had never noticed it until I posted the challenge!!!

I always thought CHICANES were what they had in F1 motor-racing, not just in a small city road.

I'm currently wondering if this roadsign (for a roundabout) is actually in use here, too. We do also have roundabouts since many years - when I first drove to Britain in 1988, it was a rather unfamiliar concept for me, although they have them i France, too - but I try to recall having seen any lately, and can't. Even so I'm passing at least two no matter in which direction I go.
Edit: the term is funny, too. We have the German equivalent for it, but not in relation to traffic, just if somebody is doing mean things to somebody else. I suppose if you'd used the term for this purpose in German/Germany, the bad jokes about it would never end... *g*

We certainly have lots of roundabouts in England ... something that visitors notice more than we do.

As I said in my post we usually only hear the word "Chicane" when it's talked about in relation to motor racing.
